This clarification is about the unexpected rumours spreading about the ceremony held in the British Parliament, to honor Darshan Thoogudeep on 19th October 2017. Without even clarifying the news from authorized sources, few people started spreading the content how they want...but not actually what it is.
Darshan Thoogudeepa has been honoured with the 'Global Integrity Award' in the British Parliament by British Member of Parliament Hon Virendra Sharma. The ceremony was similar to the ones where Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan amongst others was honoured at various events in the British Parliament over past few years. The bollywood actors were honoured by another Indian origin British MP Hon Keith Vaz whereas Darshan was honoured by Virendra Sharma.
Darshan was honoured for his contribution to the Kannada film industry as an actor, producer and for his philanthropic activities. He is one of those rare actors from Indian film industry who rose from being a light boy to a leading actor and therefore, we are proud of his accomplishments. Hon Virendra Sharma, Member of Parliament and Chairman, Indo British all parliamentary group, presented this award in the House of Commons Committee Hall number 5, Houses of Parliament. During the ceremony, he congratulated Darshan for his contribution and his accomplishments between humble beginnings and difficult challenges.
Early this year, Hon Virendra Sharma MP was invited by Karnataka Government in January to the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas where he spoke about his work in promoting Karnataka in UK. He was the only foreign member of Parliament who was invited to Pravasi Bharatiya Divas by Karnataka Government This event to honour Darshan was organized by U.K. Karnataka Business Chamber, an independent body which is striving to promote the art and cultural relationships between United Kingdom and Karnataka.
